Cloud tanned, leathery and wind burned individuals, often affected by the thin atmospheres and rarified gases of their profession, the pilots of the Flying Corps, once aloft, were wont never to set a boot on land again, until forcibly retired or choosing to disappear into a cumulo nimbus never to emerge from the other side.
