In the late 1800’s, Albert Cropper (Monster Stopper) was a familiar figure tramping the paths and byways of Cornwall, peddling his services in much the same way as itinerant knife grinders or mole catchers of the time.

His family operated the ‘night soil’ collection round in Redruth, and young Albert specialised as the firm’s parabiologist after a grim encounter on the moning collection round with a large Devonian tape worm and a pair of giant stool grubs.
